Children’s Right To Protection

Every child has an inherent right to a life free from violence, fear, neglect, exploitation and abuse. The protection of children from all forms of violence is a fundamental right guaranteed by international treaties and standards. As one of the main pillars of the UNCRC, the Convention obliges states to protect children from all forms of harm. Despite efforts at various levels, children in Pakistan remain vulnerable to various forms of violence, abuse, neglect and exploitation.

Children who are exposed to or witness violence can suffer acute and long-term damage to their physical, cognitive, social and emotional development. This section examines the most pressing challenges affecting the safety and well-being of children in Pakistan.
