Policy Brief on the Legal Framework for Child Domestic Labour in Pakistan

1 min read

Child domestic labor is a serious issue in Pakistan, where many children, both girls and boys, especially from low-income families, are forced to work as domestic workers. These children are often at high risk of abuse, exploitation, and neglect. They typically work long hours and are paid little or no wages. They are also denied access to education and healthcare, and are often isolated from their own families when they are living at the employer house.

Child domestic labour are part of an invisible labour force. They lack recognition and thus protection. The National Commission on the Rights of Child (NCRC) has issued a Policy Brief on the Legal Framework for Child Domestic Labour in Year 2022 discussing the situation, international human rights legal framework, national and provincial laws and case laws. The Policy Brief gives detailed recommendations to key stakeholders to address the issue fo child domestic labour.

The objective of this Policy Brief is to advocate for policy, legal and institutional reforms in the area of child domestic labour. You can read the Policy Brief on the Legal Framework for Child Domestic Labour in Pakistan.
