Timely Treatment Key to Controlling Atopic Eczema

Lahore: The Department of Dermatology at Lahore General Hospital organised an awareness walk on the occasion of World Atopic Eczema Day on September 18.

Ameer-ud-Din Medical College (AMC) Principal Prof Dr Farooq Afzal while addressing participants of walk said that atopic eczema is a skin disease that is treatable, but negligence and delay in treatment can make the situation complicated, therefore, timely awareness, accurate diagnosis, and proper treatment are essential to control this skin disease.

The walk was attended by Prof Atif Shehzad, Head of Dermatology Department; MS Prof Faryad Hussain; Dr Wajiha Saeed, Dr Saadia Siddiqui, Dr Aima Shaheen, Dr Samreen Rafi, Dr Shaika Ali, Dr Ahmad Kazmi, Dr Hina Manzoor, Dr Nida Aily, Dr Amara Siddiq, Dr Afshan Ahmad, Dr Sobia Ali, Dr Uzma and a large number of nursing staff.

Speaking to the media after the walk, Prof Farooq appealed to expand awareness campaigns about skin diseases to help people recognise early symptoms and take them seriously.Prof Dr Atif Shehzad stated that atopic eczema is not limited to children; it can also severely affect adults. Unfortunately, many people dismiss it as simple dryness or allergy, which can be dangerous. He explained that the condition may manifest as itching, inflammation, skin dryness, and sometimes wounds, but with the correct medications, skin care, and allergy prevention measures, it can be largely controlled.

LGH MS Prof Faryad Hussain highlighted that the state-of-the-art Dermatology Department at LGH provides high-quality medical facilities, and skin specialists are available daily in the outpatient department for consultations and treatment. Awareness pamphlets were distributed among participants, detailing preventive measures, modern treatment options, and daily care tips for managing the condition.

Cardiac disposables process complete

On the recommendations of the Central Purchase Committee, the Department of Specialised Healthcare and Medical Education has completed the process of Central Framework for Cardiac Disposables for the financial year 2025-26 in Cardiac Institutes of Punjab. This system will ensure transparency in the entire system. All Cardiac Institutes will be bound to complete the process of advance approval of the notification of tender/award and purchase order. The successful bidder will be bound to submit the necessary documents as per the rules and regulations.
