A decomposed body of a five-year-old child, Ali Muhammad, who had been missing since December 15, 2023, were discovered in a drain in Korangi, near Mehran Town, on 5 January 2024, as revealed by the police.  The family, asserting that Ali had been kidnapped and murdered, expressed their distress. According to the authorities, the child’s decomposed body was retrieved from a sewerage line close to his residence and subsequently taken to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) for necessary legal procedures.

Ubaidullah Khan, the Station House Officer (SHO) of Korangi Industrial Area (KIA) police, disclosed that a case had been registered regarding the boy’s disappearance, with legal proceedings awaiting the findings of medical professionals. Zahoor Ahmed, the elder brother of the victim, narrated to the media that Ali had gone to visit his maternal grandmother in the neighborhood on December 15 but never returned. Despite their efforts, a kidnapping case was only filed at the KIA police station eight days later, as alleged by the brother, who claimed that the police did not treat the matter seriously.

On Friday, the family uncovered the tragic truth after removing the cover of a manhole, revealing the body of Ali Muhammad. Zahoor asserted their belief that Ali had been abducted, murdered, and his body callously disposed of in the sewerage line. Demanding justice from the authorities, he emphasized the family’s pain and loss. Ali, the youngest among six siblings, had become a victim of a horrifying crime that has left the community in shock.
