BAHAWALPUR: Lodhran district police on July 13 booked six persons in two separate cases — one pertaining to alleged rape of a minor girl and the other of a rape attempt on a boy.

In the first case, Lodhran police claimed to have arrested a suspect, Q, who allegedly raped a two-and-a-half-year-old girl at Mauza Wahi Salamat Rai.

According to police sources, complainant ‘F’ alleged that his minor daughter ‘S’ was playing in the street outside his house, when she went missing.

He said that during the search for his minor daughter, he heard her screams from nearby fields. When he rushed to the spot, along with some other locals, he found the suspect raping the minor girl. On seen them, the suspect fled away the scene.

On the complaint, the police registered a rape case under section 376 of the PPC against the suspect, who was later arrested.

In the second incident, five suspects allegedly attempted to rape a 10-year old boy, ‘J’, who was working in a mango orchard in Basti Bhuttapur, in the limits of Jalalpur Pirwala Saddar police station.

According to police sources, suspect ‘I’, along with his four accomplices, allegedly attempted to rape the boy, when he was working in a mango orchard.

On hearing the boy’s screams, his mother and some neighbours rushed to the scene.

The sources say that the suspects also subjected the boy’s mother, Samina Bibi, to torture, when she confronted them for sexual abuse of her son. A video of the torture incident also surfaced on social media.

On being informed of the incident, police officials reached the scene and after collecting evidence registered a case against the fleeing suspect and his accomplices, who are yet to be arrested.
