Suspect Arrested For Slashing Toddler’s Neck In Rawalpindi

RAWALPINDI: Rawalpindi police on June 28 said they have rounded up the suspect who allegedly slashed the neck of an 18-month-old girl.

The injured girl, shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital (DHQ) with a wound on her neck, was stated to be out of danger.

Shortly after the incident, Dhamial police registered an FIR on the complaint of a detective foot constable (DFC), who said he rushed to the scene after receiving an emergency call.

He said when he reached the scene, he found that a one-and-a-half-year-old girl had been stabbed by an unidentified person and sustained a wound on her neck.

He further said the injured girl was shifted to the DHQ Hospital.

A police spokesman said the suspect, who stabbed the toddler, was arrested within 24 hours. Upon receiving information about the incident, the CPO took notice and ordered the immediate his arrest. A case was registered on Saturday and a search for the suspect had been launched. The injured girl was shifted to the hospital and her condition is now out of danger.

SHO Dhamial and teams led by SP Saddar arrested the suspect, who turned out to be a relative of the victim’s mother.

The suspect revealed that he attempted to kill the girl due to a personal dispute, the spokesman said, adding that his accomplices will also be arrested.
