A boy was critically injured in Hijrat Colony after a drug addict slit his throat with a blade over a dispute involving Rs20, the Docks police said. The incident took place in a forested area near the seashore, where the suspect demanded Rs20 from the child. When the child told the suspect he did not have the money, the suspect slashed the boy’s throat and fled. The injured child was taken to a nearby hospital in critical condition.
The locals expressed concern over the growing presence of drug addicts in the area. They claimed that groups of addicts have established camps near the seashore and frequently harass the residents.
They said drug addicts are involved in robberies, assaults and other criminal activities, creating an atmosphere of fear and insecurity. They claimed that residents and passersby are often robbed and beaten by them.
They demanded immediate action from law enforcement agencies to dismantle the camps of drug addicts and improve security in the area. Police have launched an investigation into the attack and are working to identify the suspect.
