TOBA TEK SINGH: Police have arrested a man for allegedly poisoning his wife and a minor daughter to death at Chak 61/15L over a domestic issue.

Earlier, the suspect, Iqbal, had claimed that his wife Maryam had attempted suicide by taking poison after poisoning their two-year-old daughter Ibadat Noor.

As per Chhab Kalan police in Mian Channu tehsil of Khanewal district, complainant Iqbal, the father of Maryam, said in the FIR that his son-in-law Shoukat Ali would often torture his wife.

He said that the suspect allegedly gave poison to his wife and minor daughter.

After both became unconscious, the suspect, in a clever move, shifted them to the Vehari District Headquarters (DHQ) Hospital, where he claimed that Maryam had consumed poison to commit suicide, before poisoning their minor daughter.

Acting on the complaint of Iqbal, the police arrested the suspect at Vehari DHQ Hospital after Maryam expired.

Doctors referred the minor girl to Nishtar Hospital Multan, where she too breathed her last.
