Five Years on, Govt School in Badin Village Remains Closed

1 min read

BADIN: Residents of a coastal village in Badin district have expressed concern over the closure of a government primary school for the past five years, leaving local children without access to basic education.

The Government Primary School located in the village of Sheikh Qarehio Bhandari, the last settlement of Union Council Bhugra Memon in the coastal belt of Badin, remains non-functional. The school building, described by residents as a hut-like structure in a dilapidated condition, has been lying abandoned for years.

Locals say the absence of teachers and the deteriorating state of the structure reflect neglect by the education department and other relevant authorities.

Residents stated that due to the prolonged closure of the school, children from the village are forced to travel to distant areas to receive an education – a difficult task for younger students and often not feasible for many families.

They pointed out that while the government frequently announces initiatives to promote education and recruit teachers, several schools in rural areas remain closed, which they say indicates administrative inefficiency and lack of attention by the authorities.

Villagers have urged senior officials of the education department, the district administration and elected representatives to take immediate steps to restore the school, repair the building and appoint teachers so that children in the village can resume their education.
