A three-year-old girl was found dead on 09-October-2024 in a street near her residence in Federal B Area Block 11. The body was taken to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for medico-legal formalities. According to police, the girl was identified as Amna who was the youngest of six siblings, and her father is currently in Saudi Arabia for Umrah.

Police said the girl had followed her siblings at around 7:15am when they left for school in the morning, and she was found dead at 7:30am at a short distance from her home. The police said a dupatta was wrapped around her neck, indicating that she may have been strangled. A post-mortem was conducted on the girl’s body.

The victim’s mother said they had no enmity with anyone while the police did not find any CCTV footage of the area. According to police, initial post-mortem report suggested that the girl was sexually assaulted and strangled to death. Police surgeon Dr Summaiya Syed, however, said the cause of death and opinion regarding sexual violence was reserved till the medical report.

Later, a suspect was taken into custody in connection with the minor girl’s death. It has been reported that the suspect is a rickshaw driver and a neighbour of the victim who was handed over to police by people of the locality. Further investigations are under way.
