6,500 Nomad Children To Be Vaccinated

BAHAWALPUR: The Bahawalpur district health authorities would launch a vaccination campaign to protect over 6,500 registered nomad children against polio, measles, and other diseases.

According to the district health officer (DHO), under a crash programme, the registration of gypsy children has been completed and the vaccinators of the health department would administer vaccines to them at their identified temporary camping sites.

He said the performance of the field staff would be strictly monitored. Meanwhile, the district emergency response committee for anti-dengue, at its meeting held here on 8 August, was informed that presently there were seven positive dengue fever cases in Bahawalpur district.

It was also informed that as many as 5,205 suspected dengue cases were reported in the district from Jan 1 to Aug 7, 2024, while most of the dengue patients had traveled to Bahawalpur from other cities.

Deputy Commissioner Zaheer Anwar Jappa ordered the officials to ensure preventive measures to curb the spread of dengue fever.
