1 min read

The Sindh Child Labour Survey (SCLS) 2022-24 is the first survey in Sindh to provide district-level data on child labour, covering 61,859 households across 29 districts. It offers insights into children’s living conditions, schooling, work, chores, and leisure, and follows SIMPOC’s international methodology adapted for Sindh. The survey is notable for including mental health aspects of children in child labour. It examines causes, conditions, and consequences of child labour, especially its impact on education, health, and child rights.

Overall Prevalence

  • 10.3% of children aged 5–17 years are in child labour, which amounts to approximately 1.61 million children.

  • 12.0% of all children are working, but 86% of them meet the criteria for child labour under international definitions.
