Police hold Awareness Walk on Kite Flying, Aerial Firing Hazards

Rawalpindi: The Rawalpindi Police conducted an awareness walk on January 16 to highlight the hazards of kite flying and aerial firing, and to educate the public on the legal consequences of such activities.

The walk, launched on the special instructions of City Police Officer (CPO) Syed Khalid Hamdani, took place across areas under Race Course and R. A. Bazaar police station limits. A large number of citizens attended, including Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Cantt Chaudhry Khalid Mehmood, station house officers (SHOs) of Race Course and R. A. Bazaar, and representatives of the Traders’ Association.

A police spokesman said kite flying had been declared a non-bailable offence, punishable with three to seven years’ imprisonment. He added that the public was urged not to engage in kite flying, aerial firing, fireworks, or any other unlawful acts. Pamphlets were distributed to raise awareness about the hazards and legal implications.
