In a shocking incident in Karachi’s Orangi Town, a man killed his son-in-law in the name of ‘honour’ by attacking him with a cleaver and knife, and brutally injured six others, including his wife, three daughters and a teenage son.

Police arrested the suspect and recovered the murder weapons. According to police and a statement by the suspect’s injured daughter, the man had mixed intoxicants into drinking water. Once everyone fell unconscious, he launched the deadly attack, killing and injuring multiple family members.

The tragic incident took place at a house located in Baloch Goth Sector 7E within the jurisdiction of the Orangi Town police station. The suspect named Anwar, son of Musiyat, attacked his family members with a cleaver and knives, killing one man and injuring six others, including four women.

Police arrived at the scene soon after receiving the information. The deceased and injured were taken to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital. The deceased man was identified as 32-year-old Ahsan, son of Akmal, while the injured were identified as 22-year-old Saad, son of Sadiq, 16-year-old Mudassir, son of Anwar, 13-year-old Malaika, daughter of Anwar, 19-year-old Misbah, daughter of Anwar, 16-year-old Muskan, daughter of Anwar, and 35-year-old Aneela, wife of Anwar.

Shortly after the incident, police were able to arrest the suspect along with the murder weapon. Police said the suspect committed the attack in the name of ‘honour’. One of the injured girls told police that the deceased Ahsan was her brother-in-law who had come from Punjab to visit them.

In a video statement from the hospital, the injured girl recounted that her father had behaved unusually kindly that day, saying, “I’ll bring chicken and we’ll all eat together.” After preparing the food, the whole family sat down to eat, and he also asked Saad and Ahsan to stay and eat.

After dinner, when Saad and Ahsan were about to leave, her father told them to “take the day off and listen to your elders.” He then served drinks laced with sedatives, after which everyone fell asleep.

She said her father suddenly began attacking everyone with the cleaver, injuring them severely. The deceased, Ahsan, was a resident of Jhelum district in Punjab. The girl said she pretended to be unconscious, and when her father started attacking with the knife and cleaver, she pushed him and managed to escape, alerting the neighbours who called the police.
