KARACHI: A man beat his 10-year-old son to death inside his house in Surjani Town, police said on June 25.

The police have arrested suspect Azhar Azhar and his brother, Sultan.

Area SHO Sohail Khaskheli said that the boy, Haider, had gone to visit his mother, who had been living with her parents in Orangi Town after separating from her husband, Azhar, and stayed there for two to three days.

On Wednesday, his maternal uncle dropped him off at his father’s home in Surjani Town. The father was angry at Haider for visiting his mother. He tied him with a rope and beat him up. As a result, Haider sustained critical injuries and died.

Police Surgeon Dr Summaiya Syed said the body was brought to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for medico-legal formalities. “There were multiple injuries all over the body,” she said, adding that the cause of death had been reserved for reports.
