Inquiry Into Death Of Two Babies In Gojra THQ Hospital Ordered

TOBA TEK SINGH: Following strong protest and refusal by the parents of two deceased babies to receive their bodies until strong action is taken against two lady doctors of Gojra THQ hospital, Toba Tek Singh Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Naeem Sindhu ordered an inquiry into the incident.

The district administration formed a three-member inquiry committee consisting of Gojra Assistant Commissioner Noman Ali Dogar (head), district health officer Dr Kashif Nadeem, and DHQ hospital consultant gynecologist Dr Ayesha Rauf.

The babies of two women Bushra Bibi of Wazir Park locality of Gojra and Tanzeela Shahzad of Chak 251 GB died during deliveries on the same day (Sunday). The parents of both deceased babies said that both the lady doctors first avoided arranging deliveries, adding that when they staged a protest, they delayed the deliveries for three days by making both women unconscious through medicines which caused the death of both babies.

Meanwhile, the director general health services, Punjab has also taken notice of the incident and ordered a separate inquiry into the incident on Monday.

Director Health Services Faisalabad Dr Pervez Iqbal has been appointed as the head of the inquiry committee which also consists of Additional Director Health Services Dr Samra Khurram, senior gynecologist Dr Lubna Yaqub and Public Health specialist Dr Ali Raza.

The team visited Gojra THQ hospital on August 26 and met the parents of the deceased babies and the accused doctors. The team will submit its report to the director general health services Punjab.
