Health Camp For Mothers and Babies

1 min read

Rawalpindi: The Association of Business, Professional, and Agricultural Women (ABP&AW) organised a dual-purpose event at ‘Bostan-e-Ilm,’ a charitable facility for out-of-school children. The activities-a ‘Bookshaw’ session for children and a health camp for mothers and babies-provided education, entertainment, and healthcare to underserved families, leaving a profound impact on the community.

The ‘Bookshaw’ session, conducted by Tahmeena Malik with the support of Saba Alavi and Rukhsana Saleem, engaged children for two hours through storytime, nursery rhymes, reading, colouring, singing, and role-playing. The activity aimed to instil a love for reading early in life while discouraging excessive screen time on mobile devices and laptops. Parents were encouraged to prioritise books over gadgets for their children.

The children were overjoyed with free giveaways, including pictorial short storybooks in both English and Urdu.

Simultaneously, a Health Camp led by Dr. Tahmina Azhar, with assistance from Shahnaz Talha and Tania Ahsan, provided medical consultations for mothers and their babies. Nearly 40 patients were examined, and free medicines were distributed. Dr. Azhar assured attendees that a follow-up session would be arranged soon to continue supporting the community’s healthcare needs.
