HYDERABAD:

A runaway adolescent was safely traced and reunited with her family by police in Hyderabad. Joli Shankar, according to police, had ran away a few days ago after a fight with her brother Venus Shankar and his wife, with whom she lived in the Latifabad No4 area.

Devastated by the child’s folly, Venus said he searched high and low and finally filed a missing report at the Hussainabad police station. Hussainabad police under the supervision of DSP Abdul Khaliq Jathiyal started searching for the girl.

Cops used their informers in the drug peddling and beggar gangs besides intelligence sharing from agencies to trace the child. She was finally traced in the nearby Kotri town. Police however refrained from sharing where she was living in Kotri.

Joli told the police she had left home due to a fight with her brother and bhabhi. Police officers called Venus and his wife to the precinct and asked them to resolve the issues. If the child had refused to go with her guardians, she could have been handed to the Child Welfare Department. However, after some shouts and sobs, there were hugs and tears.

After reconciliation, SHO Hussainabad Faiz Ali Shah handed over the child to her brother with her consent.

Venus Shankar thanked SSP Hyderabad Adeel Hussain Chandio, SHO Hussainabad Faiz Ali Shah, and their entire team for safely recovering Joli and expressed full confidence in police.
