Students and citizens were encouraged to use this facility to save time, avoid unnecessary travel, and experience a more streamlined process.

KU to hold special Syndicate meeting on land encroachments

The University of Karachi (KU) to convene a special Syndicate meeting on Monday, September 8, 2028, to address growing concerns over unauthorised attempts to encroach upon university land.

The meeting, scheduled for 2:30 pm at the VC Secretariat, would be chaired by KU Vice Chancellor Professor Dr Khalid Mahmood Iraqi. A KU spokesperson said the decision was taken in response to repeated threats from land grabbers attempting to unlawfully occupy parts of the campus despite prior interventions. These activities, the spokesperson added, continue to pose serious risks to the university’s integrity and long-term development.

During the session, members would review the current status of land-related disputes, explore legal and administrative measures to safeguard KU property, and formulate a long-term strategy to prevent future encroachments. Relevant stakeholders would also be engaged for coordinated action.

The university reiterated its commitment to protecting its land and upholding its academic mission, urging institutions and civil society to unite against illegal encroachments and help safeguard this national asset.
