“National Infographic Report on Justice for/with Children” provides data on initiatives taken in Pakistan from December 2017 to September 2021 to establish justice for/with children in line with international standards. It outlines the legal framework for child rights in Pakistan based on the UNCRC and Constitutional provisions for equality, protection of women and children. Some of the key points from the report are:

  • 13 pilot child courts have been established in various districts with 45 Juvenile Justice Committees notified to align the system with international guidelines.
  • The report analyzes data from the child courts on case disposal rates, average time to dispose cases, active case time periods, and bail-out rates.
  • A total of 2,447 cases involving children in conflict or contact with the law have been tried, with 1,183 being children in conflict and 1,204 as witnesses.
  • Data on convictions, both of children and adults, is provided according to type of offense and location of child court.
  • Capacity building initiatives have benefitted over 23,000 individuals including children, youth, parents and community members.
  • Over 2,100 children/youth have advocated to promote child rights and justice at the federal and provincial levels.
