Polio Cripples Another Child As Number Rises To 14 In Pakistan This Year

ISLAMABAD: Poliovirus has crippled another child in Pakistan, as Regional Reference Laboratory for Polio Eradication at National Institute of Health (NIH), Islamabad, on 01-July-2025 confirmed the new case of wild poliovirus.

The poliovirus was confirmed in a 19-month-old boy from Union Council Miranshah-3 in District North Waziristan, South Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

This is the eighth polio case from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) this year, raising the national tally of polio cases in 2025 to 14, including four from Sindh and one each from Punjab and Gilgit-Baltistan.
