Madrassa Cleric Arrested For Assaulting Minor Boy In Kuchlak

QUETTA: A madrassa cleric in Kuchlak, a suburban area of Quetta, was arrested on 30 June 2025 for sexually assaulting a young boy aged between four and five years, police confirmed.

According to law enforcement officials, they received a complaint that a cleric at a local religious seminary had assaulted a child student. The victim was immediately shifted to Mufti Mehmood Memorial Hospital in Kuchlak for medical examination.

Dr Abdul Wakeel Sherani, Medical Superintendent at the hospital, confirmed that the child showed signs of attempted sexual abuse. The child has been admitted for treatment and is also receiving psychological counseling from a trained specialist.

Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Abid Bukhari stated that the police acted swiftly, arrested the suspect, and registered a formal case. “Further investigation is in progress, and justice will be ensured,” he said. The incident has sparked concern among the public, raising questions about child safety in religious institutions.
