SAHIWAL: Police have registered a case against three suspects and arrested two of them for allegedly molesting and blackmailing a 15-year-old ninth-grade student through a mobile phone video in the official quarters of the irrigation department in Neeli Bar Canal Colony.

Reports said ‘S’ of Sarwar Shaheed Road, Civil Lines, had been subjected to sexual assault and blackmailed by three suspects ‘A’, ‘R’ and ‘Az’ for the past one year.

The Civil Lines police registered a case against the suspects under Section 375 of the Pakistan Penal Code, following a complaint lodged by the victim’s father, who is a government official.

Police investigations revealed that on April 18, 2024, the suspects allegedly lured the boy to one of the official residences and molested him at gunpoint and filmed the act. They continued to exploit and abuse him, threatening to release the video if he resisted.

The ordeal came to light on June 16, when the boy was playing outside and was approached by the suspects, who attempted to take him away on a motorcycle. The boy resisted and cried for help.

As neighbours and his father rushed to the scene, the suspects fled. The boy’s father reported the matter to the Civil Line police, leading to registration of the case.

Station House Officer Rana Imtiaz confirmed that a medical examination was conducted, which corroborated the allegations of molestation. He said two of the suspects had been arrested, while efforts were underway to apprehend the prime suspect ‘A’.
