Child Dies As Thunderstorm Wreaks Havoc

LAHORE: A powerful storm accompanied by torrential rains and lightning wreaked havoc across parts of Punjab on 29-May-2025, leaving one child dead and eight others injured in multiple incidents.

In Bahadur village, Attock, a child lost life after a lightning bolt struck the area. The same strike also left five other children with burn injuries. Locals reported that the children were playing outdoors when lightning struck. Emergency responders rushed to the scene and shifted the injured to hospital.

Elsewhere in Attock, a girl sustained injuries when a wall collapsed in village Jasian, bringing more focus to the vulnerability of rural infrastructure during extreme weather events.

In Rawalpindi, panic gripped residents of Faisal Town Phase 2 as lightning struck the area, sending two people into shock. Both were promptly attended to by medical teams and transported to hospital. Rescue 1122 teams responded swiftly to all affected areas, ensuring that the injured receive immediate care. Officials have urged citizens to remain indoors during storms and avoid open fields or under-construction structures.
