New School In Malir Under Public-private Partnership To Educate 660 children

1 min read

A newly constructed, state-of-the-art school building in Malir District stands as a shining example of an effective public-private partnership aimed at delivering quality education to underserved children in rural areas.

The project, spearheaded by the non-profit Green Crescent Trust (GCT), was completed through a collaboration with Mohammad Shafi Trust, Khuddam Education Trust, and the Sindh Education Foundation (SEF). Located near Education City in a deprived rural part of District Malir, the new school aims to provide quality education to 660 children from marginalized communities.

Previously, the school operated for over a decade from a modest facility in Bakhsu Goth on land donated by a GCT supporter. The upgraded campus, constructed entirely by the Mohammad Shafi Trust and situated on land donated by Khuddam Education Trust, represents a significant milestone in GCT’s mission to promote literacy across Sindh. SEF will ensure the sustainability of the initiative by covering recurring expenses.

Initially, the facility will enroll 330 students from 22 surrounding villages, with plans to operate in two shifts and gradually increase enrollment to 660 students. These villages, home to over 10,000 people, have long faced limited access to educational opportunities. The school will offer education up to Class 10 and is expected to play a transformative role in the community.
