Suspect Involved In Kidnapping Schoolchildren Arrested

The Special Investigation Unit (SIU) of the police has claimed the arrest of a gangster allegedly involved in kidnapping children for ransom in the Surjani Town area and seized weapons from his possession.

According to a spokesperson for the SIU, the SIU police arrested the suspect, Nabeel son of Saleem, in the Tanki Stop Sector 7C area of Surjani Town. The spokesperson stated that the suspect was involved in the kidnapping of two schoolchildren on the morning of March 26, 2024. The incident had taken place near the Koh-e-Noor Bakery in Federal B Area Block 20. The driver of a van going to a private school in Gulshan-e-Iqbal was robbed of his mobile phone, and the two children in the van, eight-year-old Abdullah and six-year-old Ibrahim, were abducted.

The kidnappers demanded a ransom of Rs15 million from the parents. It is noteworthy that the children were released without any ransom and dropped off at a location in North Karachi.

During interrogation, the suspect reportedly revealed that his gang was involved in kidnapping children for ransom.
