LARKANA: A policeman shot dead his 16-year-old daughter early on 16th October in a graveyard near Bagan Shah Bukhari’s tomb in the jurisdiction of Qambar police station and fled.

The accused was identified as Safeer Buriro.

Sources in the Qambar-Shahdadkot SSP office told Dawn that the suspected policeman was currently deployed at a private bank in the town. He was a resident of Dalil Buriro village located in the jurisdiction of Drigh police station.

He took his daughter in the pickup truck of his brother, who was working in Dubai, and brutally killed her in the graveyard, giving it the colour of ‘karo-kari’, said sources.

It was still unclear whether the suspect used a service rifle or any other weapon in the crime. The suspect fired at her face, said the sources.

The body was shifted to the district headquarters hospital and it was handed over to her maternal uncle Mumtaz Ali Buriro after the completion of medico-legal formalities. Police rounded up a number of suspects, but so far no FIR has been registered.
