PESHAWAR: Girls outperformed boys in both science and arts groups in secondary school certificate (SSC) examinations as results were declared by boards of intermediate and secondary education (BISE) on 8th August.
Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur distributed prizes among the students, who achieved distinction, at a ceremony held in the Chief Minister’s House.
Peshawar Model School for Girls-II Dalazak Road students Syeda Sawera Jehan, Saneya Faisal, and Marwa Alam clinched first position in the science group by securing 1,176 marks each. Ayeza Ayaz, a student of the same school, stood second by securing 1,175 marks. Jafer Shah, a student of Cadet College Mohmand, stood third by getting 1,174 marks.
Girls clinched all three top positions of the humanities group in BISE Peshawar results. Manahil, a student of Forward Girls High School Peshawar, secured the first position in the humanities group by securing 1,070 marks. Sumbul, a student of Lady Griffith Girls High School, stood second by getting 1,068 marks, and Rafia Mehmboob, a student of Hayatabad Model School, and Anum Asif, a private candidate, stood third by securing 1,064 marks each.19 of 51 position holders are students of government schools
A total of 86,789 students appeared in the BISE Peshawar SSC examination and 76,090 of them passed it. More than 22,000 students managed to secure A1 grade while 10,688 others failed to pass the examinations.
Girls snatched all three each top positions in both the categories of SSC annual examinations, according to results of the Abbottabad board.
Students of Tameer-i-Wattan Girls School and College Abbottabad lifted the first and third positions in the science group. Addan Saad secured the first position by obtaining 1,155 marks while Maha Misbah got 1,144 marks to grab the third position. Overall second position was captured by Aqasha Tariq of Garden Public School Dab No.1 Mansehra by securing 1,149 marks.
In the arts group, Rida Imtiaz of GGHSS Birote Abbottabad got the top position by obtaining 1,020 marks and Hifza Sajid of GGHSS Murad Pur Mansehra got second position by securing 1012 marks while Isra Kausar of GGHS Sarai Nimat Khan Haripur got third position by obtaining 1,006 marks.
A total of 72,305 students appeared in the examinations and 57,981 of them were declared pass. Passing percentage remained at 80.55%.
In BISE Swat, Zarak Mohammad of International Public School Kabal secured the first position by getting 1,154 marks. Hafsa Inayat of Sangota Public School followed closely with 1,153 marks while Mohammad Saqlain of Al-Azhar Education Institute secured 1,152 marks and stood third.
In BISE Malakand all the top three positions went to girls. Saman Gul of Hira High School Almas Usherai Dara got first position by securing 1,162 marks, Aisha Israr of Malakand Public School Dargai stood second with 1,156 marks and Aisha Iqbal of Swat Public School Batkhela campus got third position by bagging 1,155 marks.
A total of 50,883 students appeared in the science group and 48,583 of them were declared successful. The passing percentage remained at 95%.
A total of 6,058 students appeared in humanities group and 5,251 of them were declared successful. Passing percentage remained 86.68%.
Sadaqat Noor of Jamia Muhsanat Academy Sangolai Lower Dir bagged 1,075 marks and stood first in the humanities group. A private candidate Shaukat Khan stood second in the humanities group by securing 1,071 marks while Hina Shahzad of Jamia Muhsanat Academy Sangolai Lower Dir stood third with 1,068 marks.
A total of 23,022 students appeared in the examinations conducted by BISE Dera Ismail Khan and 19,649 of them were declared successful. The passing percentage remained at 85.35.
In science group, Mohammad Usman of Linz School and College stood first by securing 1,163 marks, Sidratul Muntaha of Leeds School and College bagged second position by securing 1,160 marks and Mohammad Usman of Linz Public School got third position by securing 1,158 marks.
In arts group, Zainab Bibi, a student of Working Folks Grammar High School No.1, got first position by securing 1,068 marks, followed by Areeba Sahr, a student of Government Girls High School No.3 Samundar Khan, who grabbed second position by obtaining 1,067 marks while Salma Bibi, a student of Government Girls High School Thathhal, secured third position by obtaining 1,052 marks.
In BISE Bannu, Umama Khan, a student of Sahibzada Education Complex Serai Naurang, secured the first position by obtaining 1,155 marks. Ayesha Bibi and Manahil Fayaz of the same institution obtained second and third positions by getting 1,151 and 1,137 marks, respectively.
A total of 25,167 candidates of the science group appeared in the examinations and 21,155 of them were declared successful. The passing percentage remained at 84%.
In the humanities group, Fozia Ashraf, a student of Government Girls High School Dhermakhel Bannu, got first position by securing 1,057 marks, followed by Saba of Government Girls Higher Secondary School Titterkhel Lakki Marwat and Sania Salim of Government Girls High School No.3 Saidkhel Lakki Marwat, who obtained second and third positions with 1,008 and 981 marks, respectively.
A total of 30,513 students of the humanities group appeared in the examinations and 24,222 of them were declared successful.
According to a statement, the chief minister told the prize distribution ceremony that his government was paying special attention to revolutionising the education system. He said that the performance of government schools showed that the quality of education had improved.
Mr Gandapur also awarded shields and certificates to all 51 students, who secured first, second, and third positions in their respective boards. It is pertinent to mention here that of 51 position holders, 19 are students of government schools.
