Work Starts on Relocated Schools in Kohistan

MANSEHRA: The Upper Kohistan district administration, the other day, laid the foundation stone of two relocated schools falling within the reservoir area of the Dasu Hydropower Project (DHPP).

“These educational institutions are being built under the Local Area Development Programme initiated by DHPP to provide quality education and foster socioeconomic development of local communities,” Azizullah Jan, deputy commissioner of Upper Kohistan, told the groundbreaking ceremony of the schools held in the Seo area of the district.

The DC said that the government high and primary schools in Seo were relocated after falling on land acquired for the Dasu Hydropower Project.

“Under the local area development programme, these two educational institutions will not only be relocated but also be constructed at a cost of Rs640 million. More schools, health facilities and other development projects will also be built for the people of Upper Kohistan,” Mr Jan said and added, “Projects related to health, communication and education are being executed and completed on a priority basis, as these are the basic needs of the local population.”

Mr Jan said that the proposed institutions would feature modern classrooms, fully equipped science and computer laboratories, a multipurpose hall, staff rooms and other essential facilities to ensure a conducive and contemporary learning environment for students.
