LAHORE: The Dolphin Force claimed to have rescued a woman and her children after she climbed on top of a minaret of a mosque in Raiwind area to commit suicide.

As per reports, Allah Bakshi took the extreme step due to financial strains she had been facing for the last many months.

On Friday, she climbed the minaret of a mosque along with her children — Amina (13), Azan (11), Aleezy (8), Aleena (7) and Adnan (6).

A police official said that local residents immediately alerted the police and the Rescue 1122 when they noticed that the woman was about to jump from the top of the minaret.

He said a Dolphin team patrolling the area immediately rushed to the site and engaged the woman.

He said that during conversation, she told the police personnel that she had no option other than to commit suicide along with her children due to extreme poverty.

The woman told the officials that she and her children had been facing hunger for the last few days.

The official said that the Dolphin officials tactfully engaged the woman and then convinced her that they would try to get her issues resolved by involving the authorities concerned.

They later rescued the woman and her children, he said, adding that the Dolphin SP lauded the professional response of the team and announced commendatory certificates for them for saving lives.
