KARACHI: Nineteen days after he was shot dead during a house robbery in Manghopir, family and relatives of 17-year-old Rosham Hussain ended their protest sit-in outside the Manghopir police station and buried their loved one in a local graveyard on Sep 27.
His funeral prayer was offered at a ground near the Attock petrol pump in Manghopir and was attended by a large number of people, including the deceased’s family members, relatives, area residents and social activists.
On Sept 8, six robbers, two of them reportedly dressed in police uniforms, barged into the house of Rohedad Hussain (Rosham’s father) in Manghopir. Rosham was shot when he came out of his room after being alerted to the presence of the intruders. He succumbed to his injuries.
Following the incident, Rosham’s family had refused to bury him until police arrested those responsible for his killing, leaving the teenager’s body unburied for 19 days.
The victim’s family and residents staged a protest outside the Manghopir police station, demanding the arrest of Rosham’s killers. They said they would continue the sit-in until those responsible for the teenager’s death were brought to justice.
On Saturday, police arrested two suspects, identified as Dilawar alias Tariq and Mohammed Rizwan alias Asif, for their alleged involvement in the house robbery.
Members of Rosham’s family later identified the suspects, after which the family called off its prolonged sit-in.
