Teenager held for attempt to assault minor girl

KARACHI: A teenage son of a watchman at a government school in Soldier Bazaar was arrested on charges of attempting to sexually assault a minor girl.

Soldier Bazaar SHO Waqar Azeem said the 17-year-old suspect was arrested for “attempting to sexually assault” an eight-year-old girl.

The officer said police had registered an FIR against the suspect on a complaint lodged by the girl’s father under Sections 376 (punishment for rape) and 511 (attempt to commit an offence) of the Pakistan Penal Code.

As per the contents of the FIR, the complainant said that he dropped his daughter at the school in the morning. However, she came back home and told the parents that the watchman’s son tried to assault her but she managed to escape.

The parents and area residents reached the school and complained to the school principal, who called the police. In the meantime, a mob gathered there and started beating the watchman and his son. In the meantime, the police party arrived and arrested the suspect.
