Teachers face Action over Low Attendance in Karak Schools

LAKKI MARWAT: The Karak district administration took serious notice of thin attendance of students in government schools and asked the local officials of the elementary and secondary education department (ESED) to focus on improving the key performance indicators and initiate action negligent teachers.

During a surprise inspection visit to various public sector schools, additional deputy commissioner Sahibzada Samiullah found many students absent from schools.

Along with examining the overall hygiene conditions, the official also checked staff attendance and academic performance of the educational institutions.

The additional DC came to know that the attendance of students was very low, indicating lack of interest on part of schools’ heads and teachers to improve performance indicators.

Mr Samiullah expressed his displeasure over the situation and asked the schools’ bosses to contact parents of truant students to ensure their 100 percent attendance.

He said the district administration would approach ESED officials to initiate action against negligent and absent teaching and non-teaching employees.
