Stray Dogs Maul 208 People in a Month

1 min read

MIRPURKHAS: The growing number of stray, rabid, and diseased dogs in Mirpurkhas and adjoining areas has sparked fear among residents, with 208 dog bite cases reported in just the past month.

Locals say packs of stray dogs freely roam residential streets and marketplaces, endangering citizens — particularly children and the elderly. Multiple dog bite incidents have been reported across the city, creating widespread panic and frustration among the public.

In previous years, the municipal authorities regularly carried out dog culling drives, which helped reduce such cases. However, the prolonged suspension of these campaigns has led to a sharp increase in the stray dog population, residents complain. Traders and civic organisations have urged the Mayor of the Municipal Corporation, the Municipal Commissioner, the Chairman of the Town Municipal Committee, and other relevant officials to immediately restart culling operations to protect human lives and restore public safety.
