Punjab CM To Issue Free Bone Marrow Transplant Card Soon

LAHORE: As many as 150 children received free bone marrow transplants and 2,000 others were treated for cancer at the Lahore Children’s Hospital.

This was stated by Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz who said, “Free treatment is the right of every patient and child.” She said: “The success rate of bone marrow transplant operations is above 89%, very much in line with the world standards. More than Rs4.2 million have been spent on bone marrow transplants. Children not only from KP and other provinces but also from Afghanistan are among those who underwent free bone marrow transplantation.”

The chief minister also announced starting a bone marrow transplant card to facilitate free treatment. “There is no compromise on the health of children, all resources will be provided,” the CM said. As many as 2,000 children have been treated at the Children’s Hospital, while 25,000 cancer patients have benefited from the Cancer OPD in a year.
