CHINIOT: A school guard has been terminated from service while the head teacher, as well as a teacher, had been given major penalties of seizure of service and increment stoppage, respectively, over a dance party at a girls school.

District Education Officer (Elementary/Women) Khadeeja Bukhari has terminated the service of Syed Ijaz Raza, the guard of the Government Model Primary School, Chah Bootianwala, under the Punjab Employees Efficiency, Discipline and Accountability Act 2006.

She gave Muqaddas Iqbal, the head teacher of the school, the punishment of five years seizure of service as a major penalty while schoolteacher Samina Batool’s increment had been stopped for two years. A dance party of transpersons was held at the school whose video went viral on social media. The district education authority held a probe into the matter and suspended the above staff from service.

During the inquiry proceedings, the charge of handing over school keys to the unauthorised persons for the dance party proved and the staff was given sentences under Peera Act.

Earlier, the terminated guard also lodged an FIR with City Police Station under the Punjab Sound System Regulations Act 2015 and 188 of the PPC against organisers of the event; however, no arrest was made so far.
