PHC Verdict on Outsourcing of Govt-run School Hailed

1 min read

LAKKI MARWAT: Office-bearers of teachers’ bodies have hailed the Peshawar High Court’s decision to stop outsourcing of government-run schools and colleges, saying that the historic court judgment would protect the province’ education system from going into the hands of the private sector.

Talking to a group of journalists in Bannu on October 29, Gul Rauf Khan, former senior vice-president of the all teachers association and other leaders, said that it was the prime responsibility of the provincial government to focus on improving the performance of public

sector educational institutions instead of outsourcing them.

The outsourcing of schools and colleges, they said, would deprive students of the poor and marginalized families from the right of getting education. Gul Rauf also opposed the policy of one teacher for forty students and said that all primary schools with enrolment below forty must have at least two teachers.

Meanwhile, breaking years of inertia and bureaucratic delay, the district administration of Lakki Marwat has finally shifted Government High School Nar Muzaffar, Nawab Killay, from its crumbling old structure to a newly constructed building that had remained unutilized for nearly a decade – a move widely hailed by citizens as a landmark step for public welfare.
