1 min read

A “missing” teenage boy was found murdered near Hawkesbay on the afternoon of 16 April, police and rescue services officials said.

The Mauripur police said that the tortured body of 15-year-old Rajab Ali was recovered from a drain in Sher Mohammed Village.

DIG-South Syed Asad Raza told Dawn that during the initial probe, it transpired that the deceased was a resident of Machhar Colony within the remit of the Docks police station. He added that the victim was an orphan.

He said the boy’s mother had visited the police station on Tuesday night, stating that her son had been missing for the last four-five days. Following that, the police had registered a case.

He said there was a “family dispute” which might be a probable motive behind the murder. However, the police were further investigating the case to ascertain facts, he added.

Mauripur SHO Chaudhry Saleem said the body appeared to be four-five days old, indicating the possibility that the boy might have been killed on the same day he went missing and the body was thrown in the drain.

The corpse was shifted to the Dr Ruth Pfau Civil Hospital Karachi for medico-legal formalities.
