CHAKWAL: A minor girl and two teenagers were allegedly sexually assaulted in separate incidents, while two suspects were arrested by the police after an alleged shoot-out, police sources said on July 30.

A ten-year-old girl along with her five-year-old sister used to go to a mosque in Munara village of tehsil Kallar Kahar for taking Quranic lessons by the prayer leader.

The father of the victim told the police that on July 28, the prayer leader sent other children along with his five-year-old daughter home earlier but did not allow his ten-year-old daughter to leave the mosque.

He sent the victim to a room and followed her and sexually assaulted her.

The victim came home and told her mother about the incident.

“We have registered a case against the accused and started efforts to trace him”, a police official told Dawn.

In the second incident, two suspects who allegedly molested a sixteen-year-old boy in Chak Nagri village after torturing him were arrested after they were injured in an alleged shoot-out near Sardhi village on the night of July 29.

In the third incident a sixteen-year-old boy was sexually assaulted in a mosque in Shamsabad village. According to the father of the victim, who is a prayer leader at the mosque, a man arrived in the village a few days ago to attend majalis (religious congregations) and stayed in the mosque.

His son used to go to deliver meals to that guest. On the evening of July 28, as the boy went to the mosque, the suspect tried to molest him.

The boy made hue and cry which attracted two persons who rushed to the scene. The suspect fled after seeing two men.

Later, the boy told his father that the suspect sexually assaulted him on July 24 and threatened him of dire consequences if he dared to disclose it.
