QUETTA: Police on Sep 17 arrested the father of a minor girl from Chaman who was allegedly married to an elderly man in Kuchlak.
Efforts were also underway to arrest other people who allegedly played a role in the illegal marriage. Chaman Deputy Commissioner Habib Bangulzai confirmed the arrest of the girl’s father, identified as Abdul Bari.
He said the district administration was in contact with Quetta police for registration of an FIR and handing over the arrested suspect to Quetta police.
“Police are also investigating the murder of a 15-year-old girl whose body was found in Kuchlak a few days ago,” Mr Bangulzai said, adding that the killing was being linked to the minor girl’s marriage. He said police were making efforts to arrest the main suspect allegedly involved in the killing of the girl.
Balochistan CM Sarfraz Bugti took notice of the matter and directed the authorities to investigate all aspects of the incident and take action against those involved.
