CPDM Aims To Educate Children On Emergencies

CDPM a subsidiary of Peshawar University, announced the launch of its flagship project RESCUE

PESHAWAR:

The Centre for Disaster Preparedness and Management (CDPM), a subsidiary of Peshawar University, announced the launch of its flagship project “Resilient Education for School Children Understanding Emergencies (RESCUE)” on October 13, marking the International Day for Disaster Risk Reduction.

This initiative aligns with the theme of the international day and is crucial considering the risks of climate change in Pakistan. The RESCUE project aims to enhance the education sector’s emergency response capacity, foster climate adaptation, promote youth and community involvement, and cultivate a culture of sustainable development.

CDPM encourages donor agencies and organizations to support the implementation of this project, which was initiated as a self-help effort. In a media statement, CDPM Director Professor Dr. Zulfiqar Ali emphasized, “We are committed to disaster risk reduction, climate change adaptation, sustainable development, and community resilience.”

He further stated, “The RESCUE project will have a lasting impact on school children, teachers, and communities and will play a significant role in building the nation’s resilience.
