KARACHI: The body of a 12-year-old boy, who went missing after falling into a water pipeline two days ago, was recovered from the Saadi Town area on the morning of April 26, Rescue 1122 reported.

According to a spokesperson for Rescue 1122, the victim, identified as Zahid, fell into the water line in Sachal Ghazi Goth on Friday. A rescue operation had been underway for two days before the body was finally located and shifted to a mortuary.

He said that Zahid was a student at a local madrasa and was the eldest among three brothers and two sisters. His father is a labourer, and the family originally hails from Loralai, Balochistan.

The water line, commonly referred to as the Saadi Town canal, belongs to the Karachi Water and Sewerage Corporation (KWSC). Preliminary information suggested that Zahid may have accidentally fallen into the line while playing nearby.

Residents said similar incidents had occurred at the site in the past, with no apparent safety measures taken by the relevant authorities.

Earlier in December 2025, the body of three-year-old Ibrahim, who fell into a manhole near Nipa Chowrangi, was recovered by Karachi Municipal Corporation (KMC) rescue teams near Sir Syed University of Engineering and Technology after 15 hours of search. The boy’s body had travelled nearly half a kilometre downstream.

The manhole was located directly in front of a departmental store, a two-by-two-foot uncovered gutter with no protective cover or barrier for pedestrians.
