A five-year-old boy died after falling into an open manhole in the SITE Super Highway area, police said on Monday.

The incident occurred in Faqira Goth near Lucky Star Hotel, where the child’s body was recovered from an uncovered manhole. The deceased was identified as Ahsan, son of Naveed, a resident of the same locality. According to police, the child had gone missing on Sunday evening. His family searched extensively but could not trace him and later approached the police the same night.

A search operation was launched jointly by police and the family. On Monday morning, the body was found in the open manhole. The police suspected that the child accidentally fell into it while playing. The family declined to pursue legal action, after which the body was handed over to them.
