1 min read

RAWALPINDI: A sharp rise in stray dog bite incidents has been reported within the jurisdiction of the Rawalpindi Municipal Corporation (RMC), with four individuals — including a woman — injured over the past 48 hours and brought to government hospitals.

Hospital sources confirmed that three children were among those attacked. The injured have been identified as 28-year-old Hajra Bibi, 10-year-old Luqman, 10-year-old Hareem, and five-year-old Fatima. Two of the victims were treated at Benazir Bhutto General Hospital, while the remaining two received initial medical care at the Rawalpindi District Headquarters Hospital, where they were administered the first dose of anti-rabies vaccine.

All four victims, including the three children and the woman, are reported to be out of danger.

Hospital officials further disclosed that more than 15 people have been injured in stray dog attacks over the past week, placing an increasing burden on healthcare facilities.

The administrations of allied hospitals have formally notified the RMC about the surge in such incidents; however, no effective measures have yet been implemented to control the stray dog population. Sources added that children and women are the most affected, with the highest number of cases reported from areas surrounding Nullah Lai.
