Report Finds Drug Surge Near Schools

ISLAMABAD: During proceedings on a case concerning the proliferation of narcotics in educational institutions, the Islamabad High Court (IHC) was presented with a performance report from the federal police, detailing operations conducted between January 1 and August 31, 2025.

The report was submitted in compliance with an earlier directive issued by Justice Raja Inam Ameen Minhas, who had instructed the police to provide a comprehensive account of anti-narcotics efforts undertaken during the year. The report was formally submitted by DSP Legal, Sajid Cheema.

According to the report, 22 drug dealers were arrested and 22 cases registered in connection with operations carried out within and around federal educational institutions. These actions resulted in the seizure of 18 kilogrammes of hashish, 3kg of heroin, and 3.5kg of crystal methamphetamine (commonly known as ice).

The report further detailed a series of targeted operations conducted in the vicinity of multiple academic institutions across the federal capital.

More broadly, between January and August 2025, 1,314 drug-related cases were registered across Islamabad, leading to the arrest of 1,408 individuals. From these suspects, authorities recovered 261 kg of hashish, 484 kg of heroin, 6.5 kg of opium, 94 kg of crystal meth, and 0.05 grams of cocaine.
