Police have registered a murder case over the mysterious death of an 11-year-old girl in Surjani Town after the victim’s father refused to lodge a complaint.
An FIR was registered under Section 302 of the Pakistan Penal Code at the Surjani Town police station on the complaint of ASI Nawaz. According to the FIR, the complainant received a phone call on September 15 informing him about the death of a minor girl. Upon reaching the property, he found the girl’s body.
During the initial investigation, a neighbouring woman told the police officer that she was hanging clothes on her rooftop to dry when she saw the girl’s body hanging from another rooftop. She then informed the family and other neighbours.
The police had taken the body to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital, where doctors confirmed that the cause of death was strangulation. Additional samples were collected for forensic examination, confirming that the girl had been murdered.
According to ASI Nawaz, the victim’s father, Abdullah, refused to give a statement or register a case, after which the police lodged the FIR on behalf of the state and began further investigations.
Police added that at the time of the incident, the victim’s family was not at home. Investigators suspect that the girl may have been raped before being murdered, though they are awaiting the final postmortem report for confirmation.
