The Supreme Court on 07-August-2025 disposed of a petition with regard to the kidnapping of a girl after the statement of the girl who deposed that she married of her free will.
A three-member bench headed by Chief Justice Yahya Afridi inquired the girl whether she married with her free will. The girl replied that she married with her free will and she was not kidnapped. She submitted that she converted to Islam out of her own choice and that there was no pressure on her.
She alleged that her father kept threatening her and her spouse with involvement in false cases. The chief justice observed that the girl gave her statement with her free will and such issues should not be brought before the court.
The court observed that when children reach a certain age they make their own decisions. The court asked the girl and her father to resolve their issues and directed the office to arrange their meeting at the registrar office.
