KARACHI: The Sindh Education Department has stated that five million sets of books have been printed and delivered to government schools free of cost.

In a statement issued here on Sunday, the department said that the Sindh Textbook Board (STBB) has completed the distribution of free textbooks across the province for the academic year 2025–26.

Out of the five million sets, 4.5m were allocated to public schools, while 500,000 were provided to schools under the Sindh Education Foundation, it added.

The statement also noted that, anticipating a rise in enrolment, the Reform Support Unit had proposed the printing of 5.5 million book sets.

Under the direction of Education Minister Syed Sardar Ali Shah, book banks were established in schools and 800,000 sets were collected back from students. This practice aimed to encourage reuse of textbooks and reduce educational costs, it mentioned.
