RAWALPINDI:

Additional District and Sessions Judge Afshan Ijaz Sufi has sentenced a man, Azhar, to two counts of death penalty, seven years in prison, and a fine of Rs400,000 after he was found guilty of raping and brutally murdering his minor stepsister and later desecrating her body.

The court stated that the convict should be hanged until death, declaring the crime as extremely heinous and ineligible for any leniency. The case was filed by Mukhtiar Bibi, mother of the 14-year-old victim Nimra Bibi, at Rawat Police Station on August 25, 2023.

According to the FIR, Mukhtiar had gone to the market while her daughter and stepson Azhar were at home.

A neighbour, Suleman, called her urgently. Upon returning, she found her daughter’s lifeless body hanging. Azhar claimed he just arrived and found her hanging, but suspicions led to his arrest.

During interrogation, Azhar confessed to raping and murdering Nimra. The court handed Azhar the death penalty and a Rs100,000 fine for murder, another death sentence and Rs200,000 fine for rape, and seven years in prison with Rs100,000 fine for attempting to destroy evidence.
