LARKANA: Police on 10th May recovered a 16-year-old girl who was allegedly abducted from a locality in Khairpur city some three months ago.

Her suspected kidnapper, Abdul Hafeez Mangrio, was arrested, the police claimed.

Soon after her recovery, the Sachal police produced the girl before the fourth civil judge and judicial magistrate of Larkana for recording her statement under Section 164 of the Criminal Procedure Code.

She was allowed to go with her guardians after her statement was recorded.

The court remanded the suspect into judicial custody for 14 days.

According to the Sachal police, the kidnap case was registered at a police station in Khairpur on the complaint of the girl’s uncle.

On Monday, the Sachal police received a tip-off about presence of the couple within their jurisdiction. A raid was conducted on the specified house to recover the girl, they said.

They said that the suspect was sent to jail as per the court’s order.

The Larkana or Khairpur police could not immediately go through the police record to help establish whether it was a case of intended free-will marriage or some other motive behind the girl’s disappearance.
